FAQ

Answers to the questions clients ask most before we get started.

In the comfort of your own home. I see clients remotely.

55 minutes.

After we have a consultation together, showing up as you are to your sessions is all you need.

We spend about 20 minutes getting to know each other and see if we are a good fit to work together.

I’m not licensed by choice. I believe your care is about you and it should not be limited by licensure restrictions. This allows me to offer personalized care tailored to your needs and goals, free from restrictions on modalities used during sessions. This also allows me to see clients all over the world, which I enjoy very much.

You might! But you don’t have to. These sessions are about what’s needed for you in the present moment. You’ll be talking to your body and your body to you. If your body asks to lay down, I will invite you to do so.

Be open. Everything will be invitational and you have the choice to follow or not. I want you to say no anytime that’s true for you.

While talk therapy processes trauma by talking about it, somatic practice includes tracking the nervous system and the rest of the body through awareness of body sensations (as well as emotions, thoughts, etc.) to facilitate the discharge of stored stress and tension.

Meaning comes to the mind after including the wisdom the body has that the mind doesn’t. Body and mind become a team, making it very difficult for anyone to get retraumatized by rehashing the traumatic event.

No, you do not. I have helped many clients who had no prior therapy experience.

Because I’m not licensed, I do not accept insurance, nor can I provide you with superbills. By working outside of insurance, your privacy is protected, and your personal health information stays between the two of us.

Consistency is key. Why? It’s probably the lack of it in your history that contributed to some of the trauma you are carrying. And at the same time, it also depends on your system and how much integration time it needs in between sessions.

The key here is to track your body after each session and communicate your observations to me in the following session. Generally, clients come either every week or every other week. I do not recommend coming less frequently than that to build momentum and start seeing results.

Not a problem. In the same way that we won’t exclude anything you bring up, we won’t force anything that’s not there. I will meet you exactly where you are, and we will go from there or stay there.

The present moment contains all the information we need, with or without words. Sounds like magic? Those words have shown up in session before!

Healing takes time. It took a long time for trauma to get stored and imprinted in your system. We’ll be rewiring your entire nervous system, including the brain, and this will also take some time.

Think of a path in the woods. If, after a while, we decide we don’t want to use that path anymore and create a new one, it will take some time for the grass on the new path to stop growing and for new grass to start growing on the old one.

So, it will depend on how deeply the imprint is in your system. The important piece here is that you experience at least a small shift in every session. It won’t be a quick fix, but a permanent one.
